Integrated Crisis Management Course in Africa

Police officers and military officers, as well as civilian development aid and humanitarian aid experts from six African nations participated in the first Integrated Crisis Management Course organized in Africa by FINCENT and Crisis Management Centre Finland.

The aim of the Integrated Crisis Management Course is to familiarize participants with the integrated approach of crisis management with specific regard to the interaction between civilian and military actors. The course is arranged within the framework of the Finnish Centre of Expertise in Comprehensive Crisis Management.

The students on the Africa ICM course were civilian or military experts, such as Political Advisors, Development Advisors, Police Advisors, Heads and Deputy Heads of Offices, Executive Directors with experience of crisis management and peace building missions.

The course, organized in Sudan from 10 to 15 December 2011, was a part of the African Capacity Building Initiative in which the Nordic countries support the capacity building of the Eastern Africa Standby Force, EASF.
