Cultural Awareness Afganistan Seminar 2/2010

The second Cultural Awareness Afghanistan Seminar of 2010 was held on 13 December 2010 in Tuusula. The Seminar also formed a part of the programme of the OMLT Course (Operational Mentoring and Liaison Team). The OMLT Course provides training for persons going to Afghanistan to carry out mentor or other instructor tasks.

The Seminar began with an address by Lieutenant Colonel Esa Vanonen, the Commandant of FINCENT. Christian Jokinen, a researcher at the University of Turku gave a presentation on the history of Afghanistan and future prospects for the country. Professor Emeritus Heikki Palva gave a presentation on Islam and Master of Social Science Mirva Salminen of the University of Tampere gave a lecture on external security providers in Afghanistan. The Seminar ended with a presentation by Hamed Shafaen from Afghanistan, on today’s Afghanistan from a citizen’s perspective.
