| 2 October 2009 FINCENT conducted the NORDCAPS Western Balkans Military Observer Course (BALMOC) on 14 August - 2 October. The course was arranged at Camp Milovan Saranovic in Danilovgrad, Montenegro. This fifth and final BALMOC course had students from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, Finland, Denmark and Norway. Staff and instructors were from the Nordic countries and Montenegro. During the first week of the course the students gained the basic knowledge about Peace Support Operations (PSO) and theoretic information on observer duties. In the second week they focused on performing as observers, learnt how to use an interpreter, negotiate and mediate, and finally, in the third week their skills were tested in the field exercise. On weekends the students, instructors and staff became familiarized with local culture on short trips to the beautiful coast and mountains of Montenegro. |
