New Commandant

Admiral Kaskeala has appointed a new Commandant of FINCENT.

Colonel Mauri Koskela handed over his duties to Lieutenant Colonel Esa Vanonen on Wednesday 28 January 2009. The rotation took place in Tuusula in the new FINCENT premises.

In his role as Commandant, starting 1 February, it is expected that Lieutenant Colonel Vanonen will focus mainly on international cooperation with different stakeholders and cooperation with civil crisis management units.

Colonel Koskela (on the left) will continue his career as the Commandant of the Jaeger Brigade in Sodankylä in Northern Finland.

Lieutenant Colonel Vanonen (on the right) has served in Kosovo and been in international service in Albania. He has worked for the Ministry of Defence and his preceding appointment was Ministerial Adviser in Civilian Crisis Management issues in the International Affairs Unit in the Ministry of the Interior.
