FINCENT conducted the NORDCAPS Western Balkans Military Observer Course (BALMOC) 14 August - 2 October. The course was arranged at Camp Milovan Saranovic in Danilovgrad, Montenegro.
This fifth BALMOC course,which was the last in the series, had students from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, Finland, Denmark and Norway. The staff and instructors were from the Nordic countries and Montenegro.
During the first week of the course the students gained the basic knowledge about Peace Support Operations (PSO) and theoretic information on observer duties. In the second week they focused on performing as observers, learnt how to use an interpreter, negotiate and mediate, and finally, in the third week their skills were tested in the field exercise. On weekends the students, instructors and staff took tours of the beautiful coast and mountain areas of Montenegro. Previous news from the course:
