Chief of Defence General Ari Puheloinen has appointed a new Commandant of FINCENT. Lieutenant Colonel Esa Vanonen handed over his duties to Lieutenant Colonel Jukka Tuononen on Friday 29 April 2011. The rotation took place in Tuusula.
Lieutenant Colonel Tuononen’s preceding appointment was Senior Staff Officer/Military Crisis Management Operations at the Ministry of Defence of Finland. Prior to that he has served as Coastal Jaeger Battalion Commander at the Uusimaa Brigade and Chief of Staff of the Uusimaa Military Province. LTC Tuononen served for three years in peace support operations (UNDOF, SFOR, KFOR). In the KFOR operation he served as Deputy Commander of Multinational Brigade Centre and CO of the Finnish Contingent in 2005-2006.
Lieutenant Colonel Vanonen will continue his career as Military Adviser at the Permanent Mission of Finland to the United Nations in New York, USA.
